Gary Messiana
Gary brings almost two decades of experience as a CEO and entrepreneur to Functionize. His extensive track record of executive leadership and success in application software, security and hosted infrastructure is built on his client-centric philosophy. This is underpinned by operational excellence and a wealth of management experience. He joined Functionize in 2021 as Chief Executive Officer following the successful sale of Nominum Incorporated, a DNS based security company. Gary joined Nomnium as CEO starting in 2011.
Gary’s excellence as an entrepreneur was cemented at Bessemer Venture Partners, where he served as an entrepreneur-in-residence focusing on the software and infrastructure as a service sector. Gary also served as CEO of Netli, a content and application delivery network provider serving both the carrier and enterprise markets. Netli was sold in 2007 to Akamai (NASDAQ: AKAM). Previously, Gary served as CEO of Diligent Software Systems, a provider of strategic sourcing software that was sold to B2E Markets in 2003.
Prior to his time as a CEO, Gary worked in direct sales winning numerous awards as Salesperson and Sales Manager of the Year which he attributes to his lifelong devotion to customer care and satisfaction. Gary holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Binghamton University where he graduated with honors.
